In an increasingly media-driven world, the intersectionality between film and identity has become inextricably linked. The media we consume dominates the way in which we view the world around us at large. Since media objects have long been created and controlled by non-Black forces, these depictions have negatively shaped the cultural consciousness as to who we are. Shaped the way we understand ourselves as Black. So the question becomes, what if we could go inside these negative depictions and find value within them?
In an effort to combat the lack of control over our own images, we have worked tirelessly for two and a half years to provide Black creatives the opportunity to express their unique perspectives on Black existence and identity. A space for black filmmakers to engage audiences through entertainment-focused stories that depict our lives and our issues as they exist in the real world. We want this project to act as a breeding ground for the next generation of Black filmmakers. We see this as the beginning of a Black entertainment revolution.
